Pool Table Removal
in Wheaton
A slate pool table hides most of its weight in the bed, and one wrong move cracks it. We take yours fully apart and carry it out piece by piece.
The weight is all in the slate
Down in a lot of Wheaton basements sits a slate pool table that nobody plays anymore and nobody can move. The weight is in the slate bed, three slabs that can run 150 to 250 pounds each, under the felt, rails, frame and legs. It has to be unbolted and lifted off in order, then the frame broken down, before any of it clears the stairs. We do the whole teardown and carry the pieces up and out by hand.
Wheaton runs a pay-as-you-throw program where everything outside the cart needs stickers, and a bulk item like a mattress already takes five with a 50-pound ceiling. A single slate slab blows through that weight limit on its own, so a full table was never a sticker-and-curb job. We come over from Plainfield on I-355 and Roosevelt Road, disassemble the table in the room it sits in, and clear it in one trip.
What the removal includes
Felt and rails
We strip the cloth and unbolt the rails and cushions first, so the slate underneath is free before anything is lifted.
The slate bed
Each slab is a heavy, awkward carry. We lift them off level and keep them flat so they come out intact.
Frame and legs
The cabinet and legs break down into sections sized to clear a finished-basement stairway without scrapes.
Bar and coin-op models
Older coin-operated tables weigh more than home versions, and we take the full unit all the same.
The rest of the game room
Air hockey, foosball and ping-pong tables in the same room can go on the trailer in one visit.
Tables worth saving
If the table still plays well, we try to find it a donation home before anything goes to disposal.
How the job runs
The felt and rails come off first, then we lift each slate slab clear and rest it flat on the floor. After the bed is gone, the frame and legs separate into pieces light enough to carry up the basement stairs. We tape off the door frames and keep a close eye on the stair treads so the finished space is not marked. One load price covers it, quoted at the start and unchanged at the end, with no hourly charge.
- Felt and rails off before any lifting
- Slate slabs carried flat, kept whole
- Frame and legs broken down for the stairs
- Door frames and stairs protected
- All the lifting is ours to do
- One load price, quoted before we begin

Questions
Yes. Disassembly is exactly what makes a finished basement work. The slate leaves in slabs and the frame breaks down, so nothing gets forced up a tight stair.
