Pool Table Removal
in Lombard
A slate pool table is far heavier than it looks, and it has to come apart in order or it breaks. We take yours down and carry it out in one trip.
Why a slate table is its own kind of job
Most movers take one look at a slate pool table and pass. The reason is weight, and most of it is buried under the felt in the slate bed, three slabs that can run 150 to 250 pounds apiece over a wood frame and legs. That weight has to come off in a set order, or the slate cracks and the frame splits on the way out. We do that order every time and carry each piece out of your Lombard home by hand.
Lombard curbside pickup caps what it will take. Anything over 50 pounds or bigger than a cubic yard needs an extra refuse sticker, and a piece over 100 pounds has to be arranged ahead because it needs two workers. One loaded slate slab passes all of those limits on its own, so the village route is not how this leaves the house. We come up from Plainfield on I-355, break the table down in place and load it in one go.
What we take apart and haul
Felt and rails
We peel the cloth and unbolt the rails and cushions first, so the slate underneath is clear before anyone lifts it.
The slate bed
The slabs are the heavy part at 150 to 250 pounds apiece. We lift them off level and set them down flat, never slide or drop them.
Frame and legs
The wood cabinet and legs come off last, broken down small enough to carry up a basement stairway without scuffing the walls.
Bar and coin-op tables
Older coin-operated and bar-style tables run even heavier than home models. We handle the whole unit, ball return and all.
The rest of the game room
Air hockey, foosball and ping-pong tables leaving the same room can go on the trailer in the same visit.
Tables worth keeping
If the table is still in good shape and you want it gone anyway, we try to donate it instead of landfilling it.
How the removal goes
We start by stripping the felt and unbolting the rails, then lift the slate slabs off one at a time and stack them flat. Once the bed is clear, the frame and legs break down into pieces a person can actually carry. We pad the door frames and watch the stair treads on the way out, so the basement looks the same as before the table went in. The price we quote is the price you pay, set by how much room the load takes, with no hourly clock running.

Questions
Yes. Taking the table apart is what makes a finished basement doable. The slate comes out in slabs and the frame breaks down, so nothing has to be forced up a tight stairway.
