Piano Removal
in Rolling Meadows
We bring the gear and the crew and carry the piano out in one piece. Serving Rolling Meadows from our shop in Plainfield.
A piano is a job for the right crew
An upright can weigh as much as a small engine, somewhere between 300 and 500 pounds, and a grand carries even more in its longer case. The iron plate and strings hold most of that weight, and it sits high enough that the piano pitches forward if it is tilted without support. Walking one down a staircase with a couple of helpers is how corners get crushed and people get hurt. We do it with piano dollies, straps, and padding, and we take on every bit of the lifting.
Rolling Meadows runs along Route 53 and Golf Road near Kirchoff Road and Salt Creek, and we come straight up I-355 to Route 53, so same-day often works when the schedule allows. Here a heavy, full-section item is a special pickup with a minimum charge arranged through public works, so a piano is never a simple set-it-at-the-curb job. Text us a photo and we will price the whole removal before we pull up.
Pianos we clear in Rolling Meadows
Upright pianos
We strap the upright to the dolly before it moves, since the hidden iron makes it unstable the moment it leans.
Console and studio models
The taller uprights lean fast in a doorway, so we steady them with a hand on each end as they clear the frame.
Baby grand pianos
Legs and lyre come off, then the case rides out flat on a padded skid so its frame stays supported.
Grand pianos
We separate a grand into case and frame and carry each part alone, keeping the big piece balanced on the stairs.
Player pianos
The player action and dense wood make these a heavier upright, so we plan the carry before the first lift.
Organs, keyboards, and benches
Console organs, weighted keyboards, benches, and stands all leave together in one load.
Our process
Text a photo of the piano and the way it has to come out, and we send back a price for the full job. On site we protect the floors and corners, strap the piano down, and walk it out slowly with the weight controlled. If a stairwell or turn is too tight, we take the piano apart on the spot. You pay the exact price we quoted, by the load, and nothing is added later.
- Up-front priced by the load
- Straps and padded dollies standard
- Floors, corners, and stairs protected
- Broken down where space is tight
- We do every bit of the carrying
- Working pianos rehomed, scrap recycled
